Frequently Asked Questions

Part Two

Again, I must warn you - I don't do this for living. I can't even make this page be the right width. Even with these setbacks, it's not a bad idea to learn HTML. But anyone can do this!

Pictures, why don't you have many (if any) pictures?

Those pictures take up hard drive space. The more pictures you have, the longer it takes to load the page into your computer. Less then 20 seconds is the key. It's the less-likely you will want to see the whole site. Fancy things are cool - but they can crash a web browser from lack of memory.

Aren't you going to tell me more

about making web pages?

Much as I'd like to.....that's not why I created these pages. It is merely a shallow disguise for paying homage to me, the author and for enlightenment for you on other subjects. In short, go on and seek for yourself... (pssst, try some links elsewhere for more info.)

Can I make a living at it, this world wide web stuff?

Depends - you could design web pages for others or a companies or you can maintain the website host server - the computer the web pages are on and make sure it works very well..OR, you can do both, but please, please...seek training if you aren't a whizbang on one subject or the other or both.. After that, have fun and make $$$, but in this computer industry, it's the fastest "Move, Adapt or Die" business you will ever be in. Stay on your toes and never stop learning. Trade journals, books and web media, you will need to consume like their is no tomorrow. This technology business is not for one who wants to sit still. You may need to learn Java, and other cool languages along the way.

Find out what type of learner you are - some are auditory, learn by hearing, some learn by doing, (hands on) or a mix of the two. Take real courses in the subject, community colleges are the way to go. This web stuff might succumb by the next biggest thing (don't know what though), so stay ontop!
