Mikael Carstanjen Pottery

Sea Shell Pottery portrays the essence of Cape Cod. Decorated with a blue glaze and scallop shell motif, this rugged stoneware is functional as well as decorative. Mikael creates many versatile shapes and styles for your cooking and serving needs.

It is not a piece of pottery. It is a work of art... created by Mikael Carstanjen. Each item is hand made and signed with the potter's own stamp. Therefore, no two pieces of pottery are exactly alike. Recipients often view the pieces of pottery as a special gift or acquisition.

Each pottery piece is made of stoneware clay and is finished with a lead free glaze. You may use it in your oven, microwave and dishwasher. We recommend you place the baking dish in a cool oven. Do not place pottery under the broiler, on a stove burner or a barbecue grill. Cleaning of the baking dish is easily accomplished with a plastic scrubber. For baked on food we suggest a good soaking first.

Mikael Carstanjen is an award winning Cape Cod potter whose work has been featured in numerous publications and is part of many private collections. He received his Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago.

This is a well-deserved plug for my father, Mikael, who with the fine art of Ceramics, when I was going up, has put food on the table and a warm bed which for me to sleep in... I am very proud to call him my father. As a craftsperson, Mikael Carstanjen is very industrious and has created affordable functional art for most of his life...
