Growing up, I visited a private camp in the heart of the Adirondack
Mountains between Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake.
The first time I went was for a cousin Mallory's wedding and was held on this Croquet Court over 23 years ago.
Here stands the second house - the first one burned down at least 24
years ago. This house was still being worked on right up to the day of
the wedding!
The evening view over the water from the main house looking towards Turtle Island.
The Guest Cottage on the top of the hill
The garage and toolshed/workshop are as impressive as the guest cottage
itself
While up for the Ironman, my PC800 traveling companion and I decided to take a chance and tour the camp. After looking around, it was appearant someone was living here, but where, the place looked empty of humans. I went down to the water and looked out over to Turtle Island. Sure enough, humans... They yelled over who I was. Soon, Dave and I were in a tippy canoe going over to the island. It was a pleasant surprise to meet my cousin Mary, her husband and their daughter Celia. I was in double-luck, Frank and Peggy were also coming out the next day! Frank is my 82-year-old cousin, and he's in better shape than I!
